Pacific Dental Services to provide business support services to new periodontic specialty group, Periodontics Health Group

New dental specialty network to provide periodontal care in Florida with plans to expand footprint

IRVINE, CALIF. September 29, 2021 – Pacific Dental Services® (PDS), one of the country’s leading dental support organization (DSO) that provides business and administrative services for dental offices, has announced a new partnership with Periodontics Health Group, a periodontic specialty DSO located in Florida. This new partnership will expand on the traditional DSO model and leverage PDS’ expertise to support dental specialty groups.

Periodontics Health Group (PHG), consisting of periodontist Zulema Valdivia, DDS at the helm with a team of eight additional periodontists, is a newly formed DSO that provides periodontic specialty dentists with operational support and clinical autonomy. PHG will provide care to patients in more than 40 PDS-supported practices throughout South and Central Florida, with plans to expand its footprint in Florida as well as other states. The group will be contracted with PDS-supported dental practices to provide patients with multi-specialty care conveniently located in the same practice as their general dentist.

Since its inception in 1994, PDS has been committed to fostering a culture of excellence where clinicians support and coach fellow clinicians. Its primary purpose is to provide business support to dentists, so they can focus on providing excellent oral health care to their patients. This includes educating patients about the link between oral health and whole-body health – what PDS and its supported practices call The Mouth-Body Connection®. Research shows that harmful bacteria and inflammation in the mouth can indicate and even cause systemic conditions throughout the body. Maladies of the mouth, including periodontal disease, may be linked with other medical conditions including oral cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis and more.

“Over the past seven years, I've had the privilege of contracting with PDS to provide periodontal care while working with a group of amazing specialists that share a common goal of providing excellency in periodontics,” said Dr. Valdivia. “We are extremely excited about this new partnership and looking forward to our future together as we increase the awareness and understanding of The Mouth-Body Connection. This will undoubtedly result in better care, healthier patients and improved quality of life for those in the communities we serve.”

By partnering with Periodontics Health Group, PDS will expand service capabilities to support specialty clinicians so they can focus on what matters most—providing accessible, high quality, affordable patient care.
