Dr. Charles Rodgers, DDS

Renowned dentist's reappointment highlights commitment to dental-medical integration.

IRVINE, CALIF. July 12, 2023 – Pacific Dental Services® (PDS), one of the nation’s leading dental and medical support organizations, proudly announces the reappointment of Dr. Charles Rodgers, DDS, to the Epic® Dentistry Steering Board for his third consecutive term. As Vice President of Clinical Quality at PDS and a respected member of the dental community, Dr. Rodgers joins an esteemed advisory panel of 12 dentists from across the Epic community, convening monthly to provide invaluable guidance on the development of the ‘Wisdom’ dental module of Epic’s electronic health record system. Epic is the most widely used comprehensive electronic health records system in the U.S.

Being the first dental support organization to implement Epic into its supported practices, PDS recognizes the crucial role of seamless patient data exchange in enhancing patient care. By enabling its clinicians to electronically coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, the integration of Epic closes care gaps, reduces redundancy, and provides patients with a consolidated overview of their acute, primary, and dental health records. This longitudinal data empowers patients to take an active role in their healthcare decisions, fostering better communication, informed decision-making, and ultimately leading to improved health outcomes.

Expressing his honor at being reappointed to the Epic Dentistry Steering Board, Dr. Rodgers emphasized the significance of a unified patient record in fostering collaboration between dental and medical professionals.

“I am honored to have been selected again to participate on the Epic Dentistry Steering Committee. Epic's dental module, Wisdom, effectively bridges the realms of dentistry and medical care, allowing clinicians to gain a comprehensive view of their shared patients' health. Our ongoing work aims to further enhance this valuable technology, empowering clinicians to recognize and address the significant links between oral and systemic health,” he said.

Dr. Rodgers earned his dental degree from Loma Linda University. As a general dentist, he owns multiple practices supported by PDS. With over 35 years of clinical experience, Dr. Rodgers has established himself as a highly respected dentist in the field. Throughout his career, he has actively shared his expertise through speaking engagements, article publications, and contributions to the advancement of dentistry. His extensive expertise in oral health and its connection to overall health positions him as a valuable asset in shaping the future of dental-medical integration, ultimately benefiting patients worldwide.
