CEREC v4.0 is the most intuitive and advanced CEREC software to date. It represents the most progressive software since the initial release of CEREC 3D nearly a decade ago. CEREC v4.0 is more than an upgrade; it is a major enhancement and redesign of the CEREC software platform which brings better performance, better working tools, and a workflow that makes using CEREC better than ever.

Here are just a few of the highlighted features to look out for with the new CEREC 4.0 Software:

Multiple restoration designs that can be utilized in the same application.

Enhanced tools that will allow for direct modification on the restoration.

A workflow tool bar that allows the user to know the indicated design process.

Today we announced that all 195 affiliated practices have migrated from paper charts to electronic dental records (EDRs). The technology is user-friendly because it mimics the way that providers have traditionally used paper charts. EDRs are fully integrated with existing practice management solutions, such as patient treatment plans, charges, insurance records, digital x-rays, appointments and billing. By incorporating EDRs, PDS affiliated owner doctors are now able to run their practices more efficiently while enhancing patient care.

“We are committed to providing dentists with state-of-the-art resources for their practices, and our affiliated dentists have seen a tremendous value in EDRs. Patients’ records are more precise, can be located quickly, and are backed-up to minimize the impact of catastrophic events. Furthermore, our PDS network is secure so patients can be assured that their privacy will continue to be maintained,” said Steve Thorne, Pacific Dental Services founder and president.

Photo Courtesy of waynemah via Flickr

“Using EDRs has been such an advantage in running my practice. Ultimately, I was pleased that PDS offered my office the opportunity to make the transition to EDRs so that I can open a chart and study it from any workstation in my office. The time I would have spent locating my patients’ charts can now be allocated to treating the patients themselves,” said Lance Rygg, DDS. “Of course, the fact that EDRs are environmentally friendly, require less storage space, and are backed-up in the event of an emergency are also great benefits.”

Our goal is to allow dentists to concentrate on providing the highest levels of cost-effective patient care by providing business support services including human resources, marketing, daily operations, billing and collections, with ongoing educational training and strategic financial and practice development planning. The Company continues to grow, reporting a revenue growth of $102M, increasing from $178.8M in 2005 to $280.8M in 2008. Additionally, 136 new offices have been opened between 2005 and today increasing the number of employees and affiliated dentists to more than 3,000.

We are excited to be part of the modernization of dentistry and business. What other advancements in dentistry would you like to become a standard? Comment below and let us know where you think the world of dentistry is going or where you would like it to be.

On May 15th, we left our home base in Irvine to attend the California Dental Association (CDA) Convention in nearby Anaheim. Though it was a work event we had a great time talking, playing blackjack, and communicating via social media with those who attended.

Looking for top tier talent, Ken Davis, VP of Business Development, and Kevin Sauer, Professional Recruiting Manager, spoke with many dentists who visited our booth in hopes of joining our Team. They provided insight on positions available as well as long-term ownership potential. Scott Sornbutnark (@pacdenrecruiter), our Recruiting Manager, spoke with front and back office staff who were also interested in possible employment opportunities.

Sarah Groft our PR/Marketing Specialist presenting the prize.

This year we really wanted to try something different at the CDA and break away from traditional booth marketing. We have really begun to embrace the world of social media at PDS™ and have learned a great deal in the process. After some brainstorming we decided to hold a daily Twitter tournament at our booth for a chance to win a PDS branded Poker Set. Throughout the day, people were asking if they could join in on the fun.

The reception from Twitter was great. Not only did we have people interested in what we were doing from different industries but we had a lot of buzz from CDA contributors and visitors. We had some fun dialogue with 3M’s Karen Sullivan (@3mespe_impregum), who was constantly tweeting and sharing info with us throughout the weekend. Also, Kevin Henry (@kgh23) the Managing Editor of Dental Economics stopped by our booth after seeing our tweets. Kevin is a tech savvy avid twitter user and also a really nice guy. Dental Economics also runs a great dental blog at www.dentistryiq.com

Kevin Henry (@kgh23) and Karen Sullivan (@3mespe_impregum) at the 3M booth.

The CDA this year was a great success. We talked to some talented dental professionals and made lasting connections, all while enjoying the convention. The dental industry is changing in many ways. One of the most apparent is technology. Not only are the equipment and systems improving at light speed but so is communication. The tools that technology have provided us allow a direct feed into our industry. We can’t wait until the next event for more people and companies to join in on the conversation.

Let us know what experiences you had at this year’s CDA! Did you have any fun or exciting moments from the weekend? Leave a comment and let us know.
